Why Move To Android?
Being in terrestrial radio since 1997, I came into the game at the end of it being fun, to the beginning of the super decline. I created Fresh Radio to replace what I thought was missing from that platform. As a DJ and Turntablist, the sound of terrestrial radio was missing to me as well. Fresh Radio plays classic and progressive Hip-Hop, Soul, R&B and Turntablism 24/7. As an iPhone/iOS user, when Wavestreaming made the iOS app available, my listenership tripled. Ever since that date, I’ve been sending Android users to 3rd party app’s to stream the station. The day you guys dropped the Android App, right away I ordered on for Fresh Radio. Listenership has increased and my TSL went crazy!
Having our own Android app allows us to have a presence on the Google Play store which has millions of people passing through it everyday. Prior to this, our only presence on Google Play was on the TuneIn app, where we’re competing with the likes of big stations like the BBC and ESPN. Now that we have our own app, tailored to our station, we are more accessible and unique in comparison to other stations that are grouped on one app.
